The Metal Business Federation, FEDEME and the Seville Provincial Council, edit in 2021, the first edition of the “Metal Companies Directory” in 2021, with the aim of promoting the outstanding role of the Seville metal industry and its subsectors.
FEDEME has highlighted that “Far from what one would think, the metal industry in Seville is not only metallurgy and the manufacture of metal products. Is that and much more. The metal industry has a wide range of sub-sectors under its broad umbrella, including automotive; aeronautics; auxiliary metalworking industry; installation; industrial assembly; manufacturing; mining; elevation; structural engineering; metal trade; service stations and manufacturers of machinery and capital goods”.

Over 2020, MP manufactured 4,100 new lifts and modernised 1,500. The company also currently provided maintenance services for 17,200 lifts around the world. MP is a leader in custom lifts adapted to all kinds of shafts, technical specifications, time constraints and logistical requirements.

MP Lifts leads in Spain an initiative involving 96 Spanish SMEs seeking 71 million euros in Next Generation EU funds
MP is heading a group of 96 Spanish SMEs representing 23% of all companies in Spain’s lift sector, which have come together to apply for 71.4 million euros from the Next Generation EU recovery instrument. Their aim is to use the funds to improve mobility within buildings, meet new demand and strengthen the sector as a whole.
MP Lifts has been chosen to lead this initiative, as it is the only one of its kind within the independent (i.e. non-multinational) sector in terms of size and insofar as it encompasses the entire value chain, as well as due to its leading position amongst SMEs within Spain and internationally.
The project aims to install 9,300 lifts and modernise another 30,000 over the next three years; increase the turnover generated by the sector to around 4,500 million euros, i.e. a 50% increase, over the next five years; increase the market share of SMEs within the sector to 20-30%; create 7,500 new jobs (5,000 of which within SMEs); reduce the second most common cause of accidents; improve the efficiency of the production process; cut CO2 emissions; and promote practices which restore the environment.
In order to achieve this, it is important SMEs within the lift sector become more competitive by digitalising and making their products, services and industrial processes sustainable through strategies and tools which allow them to become an essential part of the value chain and grow as the country transforms; adapt to meet new demand without losing their independence; and strengthen Spanish industry in a decentralised manner.
Currently, many lifts are in need of modernisation work and there is still a large number of buildings which do not even have a lift, meaning there is much work to be done to improve mobility within buildings as well as social cohesion. Of the eleven million lifts there are in the world, only an extremely small percentage of them are connected to the IoT (so-called ‘connected lifts’), another area where there is still a lot of work to be done. What’s more, lift configurators are becoming more and more common, something which is making orders and deliveries much easier.
Connected Lifts
The project has four areas: products and services, industrial processes, the structuring of the sector and social demand. In terms of products and services, the aim is to focus on connected and environmentally-friendly lifts; modernisation kits for old lifts; energy-smart lifts; and the use of augmented reality for maintenance and sales/marketing; as well as on allowing people to move around buildings with ease.
As far as industrial processes are concerned, the objective is to promote the use of clean energy and electric mobility solutions, the correct management and recycling of waste, and Manufacturing 4.0. As part of the aim to structure the Spain’s lift sector, the 96 SMEs involved in the initiative want to create comprehensive predictive maintenance platforms, promote the use of digital maintenance logbooks for lifts and escalators, and implement a comprehensive training programme. And finally, in terms of social demand, the companies involved are eager to improve the energy efficiency of lifts.

#eCitySevilla, towards the 100% sustainable city.
The project #eCitySevilla, a public-private partnership initiative led by the Andalusian Regional Government, Seville City Council, the Cartuja Science and Technology Park (PCT Cartuja) and Endesa, proposes the development of a model city on the Cartuja Island in an open, digital, decarbonised and sustainable ecosystem by 2025.

Thanks to this project, Isla de la Cartuja in Seville will have a fully renewable, digital and decarbonised power supply by 2025, significantly bringing forward the goal of the EU to be climate-neutral by 2050.
Five working groups are developing the strategies for each pillar of the project, namely energy, sustainable transport, buildings, digitalisation, and communication and engagement.
MP is actively involved in the Sustainable Transport and Buildings groups.
In terms of the Sustainable Transport group, we are going to participate in an initial initiative which aims to encourage those who work in PCT Cartuja to use sustainable means of transport. This pilot project will last 3 months and begin at the beginning of 2021. It will use the Meep platform, a MaaS (mobility-as-a-service) app, which will be integrated with the services offered by Ciclogreen. Staff at MP will be encouraged by HR to get behind the initiative.
In terms of the Buildings group, one of the objectives is to reduce energy consumption in the buildings in PCT Cartuja by an average of 35% by 2025. To achieve this, we will first need to identify possible measures to increase energy efficiency in each individual building. As far as our own building goes, José María Barquín is already busy laying the groundwork.

COVID-19-Lösungen von MP: Sicherer Bereich für den Fahrgast
Die Sicherheit der Menschen war für MP schon immer eine Priorität.
Seit dem ersten Moment der Covid-19-Pandemie, hat sich die MP darauf konzentriert, den Aufzug diesbezüglich mit drei Maßnahmen zu einem sicheren Bereich zu machen:

- Die Luft in der Kabine.
- Die Oberflächen, die mit dem Fahrgast in Kontakt kommen: Tasten, Wände, Handläufe oder Türgriffe.
- Die räumliche Distanzierung der Fahrgäste bei der Benutzung des Aufzugs.
Wir haben eine ganze Reihe von Lösungen entworfen, die die drei Maßnahmen in Übereinstimmung mit den Angaben der Gesundheitsbehörden berücksichtigen:

- Übertragung durch die Luft: Luftreinigung durch LED-UV-C-Licht und kontinuierlichen Luftstrom.
- Übertragung durch direkten Kontakt:
* Klebefolie mit antimikrobiellen Eigenschaften.
* MP Callmylift: Ermöglicht die Zielauswahl im digitalen Modus von mobilen Geräten, wobei der Kontakt mit den Tasten des Aufzugs vermieden wird.
* Direkte Reinigung der Kabinenoberflächen mit einem Desinfektionsmittel.

- Räumliche Distanzierung:
*Konfigurierbare Funktion für eine volle Kabine zur räumlichen Distanzierung.
*Umschalten auf Direktfahrt-Funktion.
*Positionssymbole zur Gewährleistung der räumlichen Distanzierung.
Wir haben auch Sicherheitsmaßnahmen für die Fahrgäste auf den Rolltreppen umgesetzt, für die wir eine keimtötende Vorrichtung mit UV-C-Licht zur Reinigung der Handläufe sowie Symbole eingeführt haben, die die richtige Position für die Benutzung der Rolltreppen und die Einhaltung der räumlichen Distanzierung während der Fahrt anzeigen.

COVID-19 Lösungen Luftreinigung in der Kabine
LUFTREINIGUNG DURCH LED-UV-C-Licht UND KONTINUIERLICHEN LUFTSTROM
Die MP-Lösung für die Luftreinigung in der Kabine kombiniert die Wirksamkeit von UV-C-Licht* mit einer Zwangszirkulation innerhalb der Kabine. Sie kommt in der leeren Kabine zum Einsatz und ist unmittelbar nach der Bestrahlung ohne Gefahr für Personen einsatzbereit. Da es sich um ein ozonfreies Produkt handelt, ist keine Belüftung erforderlich.
*UV-C ist eine Desinfektionsmethode, die kurzwelliges ultraviolettes Licht verwendet, um Mikroorganismen abzutöten oder zu inaktivieren, indem sie Nukleinsäuren zerstören und ihre DNA aufbrechen, so dass sie nicht mehr in der Lage sind, lebenswichtige Zellfunktionen auszuführen.
Mittels eines kleinen Ventilators ist die Luft in der Kabine in ständiger Bewegung. Wenn die Luft dann durch das UV-C-LED-Licht strömt, erfüllt es seine desinfizierende Funktion, indem es Mikroorganismen abtötet oder inaktiviert, indem Nukleinsäuren zerstört und ihre DNA unterbrochen werden, so dass sie unfähig sind, lebenswichtige Zellfunktionen zu erfüllen.
Anti-Vandalismus, keine Gefahr für Fahrgäste. Keine Kabinenbelüftung erforderlich. Das KIT wird nur dann in Betrieb genommen, wenn die Kabine leer ist und die Kabinenbeleuchtung ausgeschaltet ist (das Kit enthält einen Timer für die Kabinenbeleuchtung). Wenn das keimtötende KIT eine Bewegung in der Nähe der Kabine feststellt oder der Aufzug gerufen wird, schaltet es sich sofort aus.
Es eignet sich für jeden Aufzug, ist unabhängig von der Steuerung und passt sich an jede Decke an, mit der Ausnahme von Glasdecken. Sein Design ist vandalismussicher, da es aus einem Aluminiumprofil von sehr geringer Höhe (weniger als 1 cm) besteht, das mit der Deckenplatte verschraubt ist.
